It was dark, but not the normal darkness that everyone sleeps peacefully in.
This darkness was thick. It had it’s own presence in the room. You couldn’t see through to the other side of it. As I lay in my bed with the blankets up to my eyes, the darkness settled into the corner across the room from me. One hand held the blanket up on my face, while the other was buried in the fur of my eight year old cat, Buzz.
