Dear Writer

Dear Morning Self

I’m tired of your stubborn antics. GET UP!

I’ll be a little easy on you. I know you struggle because the nighttime version of us does not do what they’re supposed to do.

However, hitting the snooze button 1500 times doesn’t make us feel better. You think we need that extra 30–45 minutes to sleep, but in reality, we need to get up and get the day started. We’ve wanted to work out in the morning so bad that we make ourself feel guilty for not doing it.

Here’s another piece of advice for you. If you wait till the last minute to get up, you will have to run around like a chicken with your head cut off. I can see it now. Toothbrush in mouth while putting your pants on. I feel like this is avoidable stress. It’s too dang early for that kind of anxiety.

Lastly, I’ve heard stories and seen pictures about how beautiful the sunrise is. The way the colors in the sky change, melt together and then slowly disappear making a path for the radiant blue sky to make its entrance. I want to see that every day. I want to experience that kind of beauty. GET. UP!

Deep down I know you want it because we are the same person. I need you to want as bad as me. And don’t worry! I’ve already had a similar chat with our nighttime self. It’s time we all get on the same page!

Sincerely,

The girl who wants to see the beautiful sunrises
